"VIDIN - CALAFAT AGENDA" PROJECT
The project aims to build the on-site capacity in Vidin and Calafat for effective civil monitoring of the process of the Second Danube Bridge construction and the impact it will have on the local communities (i.e. economic, social, ecological, etc.), as well as to use this capacity for protection of the local interest.
The objectives of
the project are:
1. Consolidation of all interested local stakeholders - making a coalition
of organizations from both cities for the monitoring of the building
of the Bridge;
2. Development of the potential of the coalition for effective control
- education of local experts in: Forms of corruption in public works
projects, Public-private partnership in countering corruption, Media
and civil society strategies for increasing transparency, Advocacy,
etc.;
3. Acknowledgment of the Coalition with the official status of observer
by the public authorities, donors and the implementation agents of the
Bridge;
4. Creation of an independent channel for access to information about
the bridge construction and accompanied activities - specialized website
in Bulgarian, Romanian and English languages;
5. Practical monitoring of activities in connection with the Bridge
in the period 2007 - 2008;
6. Dissemination of the monitoring results among local communities and
institutions.
